catch report...

hey everyone. Catch report on peacock bass for the last few weeks... yes yes... lame ass fish but there aren't much places to fish in singapore and peacock bass are quite catchable. so yah. went for em. they are pretty fun on poppers too. so far i find, pink charlies or clousers are the most effective. they are visual fish, often taking the fly about 5 feet away from you when ur about to pick up and cast again.

LE: 12 dec 2005.met nick at the subway station then caught a bus to the spot. we rigged our rods and started casting. i scored a few smallish palm sized peacocks which i put back and didnt take photo. what for when u've got photos of small peacock bass rite?


I really should become a guide. i helped someone get his first fish on a fly. from cast to your 11.30, about 30 feet, drop the line NOW!, strip, strip, hes on it! set! all the way to pressure the fish more! dun let the fish bully you! the product: a very happy Nick, handsome looking peacock bass and a ripped up pink charlie tied by me. he blooded my evo 2 for its 3rd decent peacock bass. Mind you, nick missed a few million babies when he was getting his act together and before i told him what to do... after that he got locked on to this guy.

i thought nick's rod looked softish so i wanted to try it. a few casts later, i got my first decent fish for the day. it was an action packed morning as after i zapped my first decent fish, the whole area was alive with these critters and they were not small.

there was suddenly a frenzy and i nailed a few more smallish ones and had a huge fella break off one of my flies... sigh... well
